Academic Background & Past Experience
I am a senior dual major in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising at Illinois State University. I love to get involved as much as possible within my majors. I am a member of Gamma Phi Beta, Women in Business, and Delta Sigma Pi as well as being part of the executive board for the 2020 Fashion Show! I have always been very passionate about the fashion industry which is why I have worked at numerous retail stores ever since I was 16 years old. This past summer, I was lucky enough to complete a management and leadership internship at Kohl’s where I was able to grow my communication, merchandising, and other important professional skills.

Strengths & Achievements
I knew I wanted to be a professional in the fashion industry ever since my first job at a bridal and prom dress shop. I have been working towards my goals by developing business skills through Delta Sigma Pi. This organization has given me the confidence to network, public speak, and to take initiative in professional settings. I believe my business major has given me a lot of valuable skills that are very much needed in the fashion world. Because I am so involved, I have learned to manage my time excellently in order to be able to accomplish everything I want to. I think that all of these aspects are the reason I have gotten so many amazing opportunities!

Future Career
I loved my internship with Kohl’s because they allowed me to transform the experience into something that I wanted. That is why I fell in love with the company! I am so honored that Kohl’s offered me a position in their corporate buying offices as a Merchandise Analyst. I could not imagine a better job offer that combines both of my majors so perfectly! I will be moving to Milwaukee, WI in June this year and will be starting my career in September. I cannot wait to see where my fashion career takes me and this is a great first step!

Visual Merchandising Analysis
Within this blog I will be applying the skills learned throughout the course to analyze different stores’ visual merchandising. We will be researching how different aspects of window displays, atmospherics and online merchandising effect the overall environment of a store and, in turn, how it makes the customer feel. I cannot wait to explore these merchandising tactics and post my reflections in this blog!
